Composition

• Each 5 ml syrup contains:
  • Guaifenesin BP 100 mg
  • Levomenthol BP 1.1 mg
  • Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride BP 14 mg

Uses of Pires-M Syrup 100ml

Diphenhydramine+Guaifenesin+Bromhexine+Ammonium Chloride is used in the treatment of cough with mucus.

Side Effects of Pires-M Syrup 100ml

• Diphenhydramine may cause drowsiness, dizziness, gastrointestinal disturbance, dry mouth, nose and throat, difficulty in urination, or blurred vision.
• Less frequently: palpitations, tremors, convulsions, or paraesthesia. Hypersensitivity reactions such as skin rashes, erythema, urticaria, and angioedema may occur.
• Gastrointestinal discomfort, nausea, and vomiting have occasionally been reported with guaifenesin, particularly in large doses. Adverse reactions to levomenthol at the low concentration present are not anticipated.

• Guaifenesin + Levomenthol + Diphenhydramine relieves cough that is accompanied by mucus.
• Drink extra fluids to help loosen the congestion and lubricate your throat while you are taking this medication.
• It may cause dizziness and sleepiness. Do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how it affects you.
• If you are diabetic, monitor your blood glucose regularly while taking this medicine.
• Inform your doctor if you have a history of thyroid or heart disease.
• Stop taking Guaifenesin + Levomenthol + Diphenhydramine and inform your doctor if your cough persists for more than 1 week, tends to recur, or is accompanied by a fever, rash, or persistent headache.

How does Pires-M Syrup 100ml work?

• Diphenhydramine: Potent antihistamine and antitussive with anticholinergic and sedative properties.
• Guaifenesin: Reduces the viscosity of tenacious sputum and acts as an expectorant.
• Levomenthol: Mild local anesthetic and decongestant properties.

Pharmacology

Dosage & Administration of Pires-M Syrup 100ml

Adult Dose:

• Adults: 2 teaspoonfuls (tsp) of syrup 4 times a day. For nighttime cough relief, 2 teaspoonfuls at bedtime followed by 2 teaspoonfuls every 6 hours.
• Subjects with moderate to severe hepatic dysfunction should exercise caution when using this product.

Child Dose:

• Children over 12 years: 2 teaspoonfuls of syrup 4 times a day. For nighttime cough relief, 2 teaspoonfuls at bedtime followed by 2 teaspoonfuls every 6 hours.
• Safety & efficacy not established in children under 12 years.

Renal Dose:

• Subjects with moderate to severe renal dysfunction should exercise caution when using this product.

Overdose Effects:

• Excessive intake of Guaifenesin may cause renal calculi. Treatment should be symptomatic and supportive.

Administration:

• May be taken with or without food.

Interaction

• Potentiates the effects of alcohol, codeine, antihistamines, and other CNS depressants.
• May potentiate the effects of anticholinergics, resulting in tachycardia, dry mouth, gastrointestinal disturbances, urinary retention, and headache.

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to the product or any of its components.
• Patients who have received treatment with MAOIs within the last two weeks.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Administration during pregnancy should be done with care. No adverse effects have been associated with the human fetus or suckling infant.

Precautions & Warnings

• Not for use in persistent or chronic cough without physician direction.
• May impair the ability to drive or operate machinery.
• Use with caution in patients with narrow-angle glaucoma or symptomatic prostatic hypertrophy.
• Avoid alcohol.

Storage Conditions:

Store at a temperature not exceeding 30°C in a dry place. Protect from light & moisture. Keep out of the reach of children
